The main purpose of this blog is to display the interesting photographs taken with camera traps (trail cameras, sensor cameras) which I set up where my work takes me across South Africa.
I am an ecologist specialising in bird monitoring. However photography is more than a serious hobby and as part of my work I deploy camtraps to monitor birdlife. One or two of the camtraps may be used to monitor other forms of wildlife in the work area.
I live in Moorreesburg (WC), South Africa – but my work takes me all over the country and to very remote areas as well. I’m a lifelong student and new challenges to learn new skills and gain new knowledge are close to my heart.
Currently I am working on a PhD in Natural History – comparing the two bird atlas projects (SABAP1 and SABAP2) of the Animal Demography Unit (ADU) at the University of Cape Town.
